Hi,
My name is Gábor, with my wife we go to Cyprus from 3rd of March to 10 of March. My wife Anna is a singing bowl terapist. She takes her quartz crystal singing bowls to Cyprus. We are looking people who are interested in, who would try the special sound of quartz crystal singing bowls. If you have friends, family or group of people who are interested in please contact me. I also can send a short video where you can see and listen.
Hi Everybody,
Myself and my partner are hoping to emigrate to Cyprus at some point this year. We are new to the forum and are hoping that all your experiences will help to settle our nerves regarding a few issues.
We have a fairly good understanding of the requirements for the pink slip but are a little bamboozled about how to carry out our banking. Should we open a new thread or can I ask some of my questions here?
Kind regards,
Mark
Welcome Mark... Start specific threads .but use the search function first as it's highly likely the question has been answered
Welcome Mark. Great news and exciting times ahead. Pls feel free to ask questions as there is a wealth of knowledge here. Bear in mind that things do change all the time and test any advise to ensure it is up to date and still applicable! Always engage a professional to assist as well. It will probably cut the time and provide peace of mind.
@Toon. Thank you so much for your response. I will post my question in a new thread which hopefully you will see. Any help would be very much appreciated
Kind regards,
Mark
@phildraper Thank you so much for your response. I will post my question in a new thread which hopefully you will see. Any help would be very much appreciated
@JulienI did reply yesterday but must have pressed the wrong button somewhere.
just a quick reply, I spent 2 years in the Air force in Akrotiri leaving in June 1973. We all wept when we left as we had been so happy there.
Now 50 years later we want to return. It may seem strange to you since I will be 81 in June and my wife is 77 but we are still coming back. My eldest son is coming too with his family.
We hope to be there in a few weeks time to look at the house we are eying up in Paphos, also to look round and see what has changed in 50 years We were so happy there and want some more of it especially the sunshine. We naturally have a few health problems but my Doctor says we will be better off in the climate. I will not be laying in the sun all day as I used to do. We have 3 little dogs the size of Yorkies and they will be with us too.
We will not have any financial problems at all.
My wife has spent some time trying to find Furniture shops out there as we like Leather seating and not fabric but so far we have not found any. We think we may have to import from Italy.
I think that is all I can say for now, I will be happy to answer any queries you may have.
Bye for now
Ken Cooper
Hi all i am British so is my husband but holds an Irish passport. We are thinking of moving to Cyprus . We plan to go out in September for a holiday Looking for a new build the west area of Larnaca. Any advice would be totally welcomed. We both will have to wait for our pension but will have money in the bank. The lady who was asking about the car if you could give any information on right move would appreciate.
Many thanks,
Karen
@karenmarshall65
I have an Irish passport as I was born in NI and my husband is English. I applied for residency which is automatically given as I have an EU passport. At the same time my husband applied as a spouse of an EU citizen. So it was no issue with him being British.
Hi are you guys uk expats now in Cyprus, if so I would love to speak as I am new here too and looking to meet friends.
With best wishes
Martin
Hello all,
Girlfriend, (soon to become wife), and I recently returned from Larnaca after having a look around with a view to renting for a year prior
to possibly buying.
I'm an Irish passport holder, she UK.
Simple question.... Use a local lawyer for retirement Visas or do it ourselves?
Thanks
Eamonn
With an Irish passport things are much easier for sure but get married first .then your new wife can apply on the back your passport as a family member of an EU national...
Although you can easily do the residency yourself....there is a lot to be said for using an agent ..takes a lot of stress and anxiety and frustration out of the process...
@helgasnowdon Morning guys, my name is Charles and have lived in Sotira for 8 years. where exactlyis the house being built as there are several new buildings comming up.can help and comment for this aprt of the world
@Toon
Thanks Toon,
Guessing you are a Geordie )))
Marry her you say... Marriage of convenience, how much do you think I should charge her? She has a few bob so I was
thinking £25K
OK, seriously. yes it may be the way to go. Regarding a Visa lawyer, a little concerned about getting ripped off.
I could ask on the Site for recommends in the Larnaca area.
Cheers
Eamonn
Toon forever...
Am sure there are a few guys here who can make recommendations for the east side ..as I am on the west side...
Hi, I'm planning to retire to the Paphos area next year.
Like many others, I first fell in love with Cyprus while serving at RAF Akrotiri, and I've been back on holiday several times. I've been planning the move for a couple of years, but for various reasons it's been delayed.
I've had consultations with lawyers, tax advisors and financial advisors in Cyprus so I'm already quite clued up on the requirements.
At the moment, Mandria is at the top of my shortlist of possible places to settle and I'll be staying there again for a couple of weeks in November; if there is anyone who lives in or near there, I'd love to meet up for a chat over a Keo or two to hear your views on living there!
@windycooper43
We recently replace our sofa as the one supplied by the builder was made in China and didn't last. We took it apart and the wood looked like it came from a pallet. Checked out stores in Paphos and Limassol. Best ones come from either Greece or Italy. They have some in stock otherwise choose your style, colour and fabric and wait 12 weeks. In the end bought one from Poltrone. The leather sofa they have on promotion at the moment is a great price. https://www.poltronesofa.com/en-CY/Promotions
Check out Softtop and Evzonas in Paphos online.
Hi friends! I am planning to move to Cyprus in 2025. Wish me luck!
@afinski89
Hello and welcome !
If you have any questions, feel free to ask !
All the very best

Hello to you all. We are in the very early stages of making our move to Cyprus, and will start with visits to Paphos early next year. We have never been to Cyprus, so I hope we like it. After all our research, it seems the best place to be!
It would be good to know which agents/lawyers have good reputations, so we can start looking at properties.
@MarDo1
Good Lawyers in Paphos
Nick Kourris via Papatheocharou
Esme Palas excellent for immigration
Demetriades
Haris Karogilou
Agents
Buy n Sell
Sunseakers
Cyprus resales
West Coast Properties
Have a look at facebook marketplace and bazaraki too ..it will give you an idea of rentals and sales prices
If looking at the East try Island Homes and Blue Surf
Thank you Toon.
My first post.
We are looking to buy in Paphos area, but just as a holiday home, so the above info is helpful to us.
Any advice re bank accounts. Will need to tfr money in euros from sale of current holiday home (hopefully in near future). And ultimately set up direct debits etc for bills.

It's best to start a fresh thread on specific matters to get targeted replies
