House maid passport giving to my boss

My boss is putting on pressure to handle over my passport to him is it legal and if not what should I answer Him to give me breathing space cause I have aproject am working on back home and I need to use passport for some documents sign-up.

its very common and i would say most if not all employers hold their worker’s passport, not only in Oman but in nearly all GCC countries.

best is to talk to him and explain to him, i find Omani people easy to deal with.
