Message from Dubai Health

Post new topic

Freedomecho

I received a message from Dubai Health after the medical examination to attend the Al-Muhaisnah Medical Fitness Center on Monday.

Note that I was infected with Hepatitis C virus, but it was cured. Only there are antibodies to the virus

My heart almost stopped from anxiety

Go and do the re-test.  Don't read too much into it.   I have explained many times why people are called back for re-tests and not all the reasons are due to an unfit result.

hfxott

hi, has there been any rule change in regards to testing Hepatitus C?

XTang

No

Hi Mr Xtang. Hope you are doing well. On be half of my friend, i have a question. My friend had Hepatitis C but treated some years ago. The HCV/ab test always show positive, PCR test is detected (after treatment). He is cured 100%. Now he applies as a pilot in Abu Dahbi. The doctor of airline gave him medical pilot licence already. However they said my friend still need a HCV/ab test and under SEHA consider. Is my friend unfit for the medical visa?.

XTang

For normal people in UAE, HCV is not tested even.  For some professions, it may be required by employer as per their policies.

Thank Mr XTang. I read many your threads and just dont be angry if i give more details and ask more question. Im wrong, his PCR for Hepatitis C test is negative (cured 6 years already and Of course HCV always so positive). He is pilot. His medical exam is in Seha. Could he possible fit or unfit?. Hope you could help me for this case.

XTang

That is what I said.  To make it clearer:

1) HCV is not tested for as part of the normal testing procedure for individuals.  Also PCR does NOT matter in ANY infectious disease test in the UAE, it is always about antibody

2) Employer can mandate extra tests to SEHA for their specific requirements.  If those are failed then he won't get a job but won't be deported
