As others mentioned, you can buy but the process is complex.  Secondly, I wouldn't advise it on a normal yearly Iqama as if you lose your job and have to leave, you will have to do a forced sale of the property i.e. take losses.   If you have premium residency, the process is simple and less risky.

@XTang What is the process if you have the premium residency? Can you put your property out for rent under the premium residency or is it only for your own residence?

Under PR, you can rent it.

Thanks for comment. Renting while having PR is interesting for me. Can you help understand this further? I tried to find this specific point but couldn’t get  hold of an official statement/document.

Yes, it is allowed for companies and investors who have the privileged residency granted to investors, businessmen and businesswomen, but without that, it is better if it is with a citizen and a trustworthy person.
