Revised criteria for obtaining a residence permit for investors (PR 6.2)

The Ministry of Interior, by its decision on April 21, 2023, implemented from May 2 the revised criteria by which this immigration permit is granted. Unlike the initial investment of €300,000.00 with which the investor could secure an immigration permit for his non-dependent adult children, parents and in-laws, the revised criteria state that:

1. no permanent residence permit is granted to any other adult person, if an investment of €300,000.00 has not been made for each person. However, there is an exception for unmarried children aged 18 to 25 under certain circumstances (university purposes). In other words, with this revision permanent residency will not be granted with one investment to parents, in-laws and adult children.

2. The applicant should provide evidence on an annual basis that he still maintains the initial investment and the required income determined for him and his family. Consequently:

I. for each individual/main applicant applying for a permanent residence permit in the Republic the income should be €50,000 instead of €30,000

II. for each minor child €10,000 instead of €5,000 and;

III. €15,000 for spouses.

In cases where the holder of the immigration permit does not provide the required documents, the immigration permit of him and his family will be cancelled.
