Marriage process post paperwork

SafiHal898

Hi, I have recently returned from Marrakech, having obtained the affidavit for marriage, getting it legalised in Agadir, as well as getting the criminal checks and medical checks done. All British issued paperwork needing translation is now with the translator, and I plan to fly back next month for the marriage.

My understanding is that once all documents are ready, we submit to the court for the judge to approve them.

Does this mean we are married at that point? Or is it simply authorisation/ a licence to proceed with the marriage? Who actually conducts the marriage? I keep reading about the judge, an adoul, wedding ceremonies etc..  but I am unsure at which point we would actually be married! Where does the Islamic nikkah come into it? Would we go to a mosque and an imam would marry us?

We plan to have a small celebration, and a wedding at at a later date where friends and family can attend, but I am unsure if even after the court stuff, we would be married?!

Theres no judge just the court’s clerical process and they do not do the islamic nikkah and the adoul issues the ceritificate once the marriage is contracted.

Thank you for your reply. How do we go about arranging the islamic nikkah once the clerical process part is complete?

@SafiHal898 your adoul will marry you (nikkah) where ever you want. Could be in his office or elsewhere. Then you can have a celebration after (walima) wedding party. Its up to you both. Your Nikkah is your marriage contract.
