Finding work in Cambodia

dangreen180

Hi,

After much googling and even a reply from an email to the Cambodian embassy in London, I'm still unclear as to the visa situation.

Basically, I'd be going to Cambodia without a job lined up, with the intention of trying to find one once there.  Is this actually possible these days? I've seen something called an EG Visa (job seeker visa) mentioned online, but any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Dan Green

Greetings,

Tons of wishes and luck for exploring work opportunity in Cambodia. A well known fact, skill set should meet the opportunity.

Alternatively one should explore independent consultant opportunities on Online mode and stay in Cambodia on Tourist Visa.

A word of caution for UK gentleman. Temperatures soaring to 50 plus. Won't be hard for Asian but for EU it can be headache. Hydration should be given priority. It's just the opposite for Asian who visits Europe in Winter.

Wonderful Day

@Nickcage

If you’re planning to stay in Cambodia on a tourist visa, here are some important points to consider:

- The standard tourist visa allows you to stay in Cambodia for 30 days only. You can extend it for 30 days at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh or local immigration offices in other cities.

- To extend your stay beyond the initial 30 days, you’ll need to visit the immigration office and pay the extension fee. Make sure to apply for the extension before your initial visa expires.

- If you exceed the allowed duration without extending your visa, you’ll be subject to an overstay penalty. The penalty fee increases for each day of overstay $10).

- The tourist visa is a single-entry visa, which means you can enter Cambodia only once. If you plan to leave and re-enter the country during your stay, you’ll need to apply for a new visa or an extension.

Safe travels!

@dangreen180 I’m in the same situation as you!

Thinking of Vietnam maybe, to begin with anyway. Visa situation seems a bit clearer - three-month visa to start, which can be renewed for another three months = six months to find a job! Easy 😎🤪

Easy? Perhaps. It all depends on your area/level of expertise.

I'd suggest you research the possibility of your finding employment in Vietnam prior to incurring the expense/time/trouble of going there with that intent. I invite you to open the topic for discussion on expat.com's Vietnam forum.

Still, 90 days as a traveller or tourist in Vietnam would be quite a unique experience if you've never been before.
