Letter from which Vietnamese authority

Post new topic

Dartanz

Hello,

My application for British Citizenship is in process.

The UK Visas and Immigration office wants a letter from a Vietnamese authority stating that I have never held Vietnamese citizenship.

I have TRC status in Vietnam.

I can get such a letter from which Vietnamese authority?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best.

I'll be honest: What you are saying doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but you almost certainly would need to start your search at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) through one of their offices in Hà Nội or HCMC (possibly the Đà Nẵng office can help you as well).

They might not be able to start the process for you, but because they almost certainly will be involved in the final step of certifying any paperwork you get, they should be able to tell you where to go first.

Good Luck!

@Dartanz hello, That doesn't make sense to me either.   If you have a TRC is because you don't hold a citizenship.  In fact, to demonstrate you are not a citizen is a little complicated since Vietnam is still feeding its national database of people and many of Vietnamese are still required to go to their place of birth for some paperworks.

I'm not sure about the suggestion by @OceanBeach92107, but he's logic and there is  nothing to lose.

In worst of cases maybe a notarized Sworn declaring you have never been a vietnamese citizen, and a vietnamese police clearance (in fact this document is very important to have before leaving Vietnam) could demonstrate what UK wants.

You could contact to UK officer and explain what I mentioned in my first paragraph and offer the sworn and police clearance instead.

Good luck

Hi Dartanz. I'm curious, your profile states English expat in Vietnam.

If you are now applying for British citizenship, which country are you currently a citizen of?
