I heard that you can't bring dogs or pets into Bali, but I've also heard that pets need to be quarantined in Jakarta, so really can't help you as I know too little about this.

Yes correct they need 1 week quarantine in Jakarta. A person I "met in a pub" paid a dog smuggler for the balance of the journey )

Smugglers will do it.
If found, the dog will be killed and you face punishments that might include deportation.
