I am dreading it because I will be driving past Paris on the 13 August (Olympics end 11 August).

All the Olympic visitors will be bunging up the  the ports.

Everything will be overwhelmed.

Well - I do expect some action - IS made treats, Quatar promised security help for the French.

One thing is sure: not very popular to be present personally on live events in Paris - better to watch in TV / online streams.

I think a lot of people will be avoiding Paris.

I read US airlines are going to be predicting a loss on long haul flights going there.

No Olympic premium for them.

I watched it, but it was all over the place as it was not in one location but on the river. I gave up in the end. I understand Celine Dion at the end was amazing.

Sorry. it's a right turn off, the whole thing.

Celine Dion is OK but meh.

By chance, I was watching Rick Astley at Glastonbury on the TV and he's a great performer.  Looks like he's very underrated.

Celine has a powerful voice but her style is not my fave .Too many love songs and ballads.

I dislike love songs, I am not a romantic I suppose. Who on earth deserves a love song?

About the only romantic song I ever really liked was Dreams by Heart.

In fact around 1975 when my sister and her HU BF lived in Vancouver, she chatted with both Ann and Nancy when they played at a club, before they hit the big time.

She said they both were really nice ladies. Talented too.

I guess I got tired of hearing Celine every 15 mins at the Bellagio fountains in Vegas, over kill.

I did not watch more then a few mins of the opening ceremonies ,from what I have seen since then, it was disgusting and had an agenda.

Since when did sports become so political? Well, suppose it all goes back to Greece and pagans.

Some things never change.

Yup, Celine doesn't figure on my musical radar either.  I might go and see her if she paid me enough and I wasn't washing my hair that evening.

At the Olympics, they apparently flew the UK flag upside down.   I suppose someone somewhere couldn't resist the deniable insult.

Olympics have always been political.  I think the Russians were at the centre of that too - invasion of Afghanistan way back when.

Sorry they hung the UK flag upside down, very rude and careless of them.

I know when the US flag is hung upside down it means we are in distress.

I am  political but we all should resect other countries traditions and those who died for their countries.

I get disgusted when I see US citizens burning the US flag.

Might be the old Girl Scout in me. Used to proudly put on my scout uniform, all pressed and clean every Wed. and 4 of us from my troop would get to school early to raise the flag before the school day started. We also took it down after school, folded all neat and proper.

If the flag should touch the ground at all, it has to be removed from service.

We little 10 11 year old girls took allot of care that that never happened, all without adult helping us.

They UK flag was defo hung the wrong way on purpose.

I saw a video that took a screen shot of the opening ceremonies , one of those, Guys, had on super short black pants and something was hanging out of his pants and it was not a flag!! Yikes!!

Link is not accessible to us outside the UK. But no mind, I was only told by someone the UK flag was upside down.

Just for non-UK folk, the Union flag is not symmetrical, there is a right side up. And upside down is indeed a significant distress. Due to the design, unless you know, it would be hard to spot.

There has not been such a gross opening ceremony since the one in 1939.

Now the media is back tacking that there was a wardrobe malfunction with that guys , little ding a ling hanging out of his shorts. It was actually his thigh popping out... Yes, right ... Like they do not go over every detail first to make sure things go smoothly.

They should wear modesty garments like they do in films.

On the other hand, we should not be prudes!

I read a story in the foreign press; something along the lines of never mind the athletes, the coffee in France is made from the same water as the Olympics people were complaining about!

That's insane or In-Seine perhaps?

Too obvious I know.

I expect the water in the Seine has been through Parisians kidneys 3 times (at least).

Isn't it an urban myth, the water out the tap in London is on the 7th loop through people?

Something like that.

    -@fluffy2560You
know how it goes; if there's a pain, there's a claim.

Hot off the Press (well, Twitter) The International Olympic Committee confirmed two boxers who were disqualified from the world championships last year for failing ‘gender eligibility tests’ are to be allowed to fight in Paris.  Don't know if it's actually happened.

Remember that runner from SA. She was eventually allowed to compete.  Good for them. I used to like boxing but considering how much damage it does, it shouldn't really be allowed.

Call me a prude. There is a reason some body parts are called, privates. They should of taken precautions with the wardrobe , they spent enough money to make sure things were covered.

I dunno, it's a bit OTT. There was that female tennis player who swapped her T-shirt on court as it was on the wrong way round. She had underwear on and yet she was fined for indecency by the match organisers. That's really taking it to stupid levels of absurd.

I remember having arguments with folks over my Mrs breastfeeding our kids in public. Who wants to have their lunch in the toilet?

Marilyn Tassy

Reminds me of when I took my Hungarian ex DIL to a small yoga class with me.

It was held by my German friend at a small community center and not our usual gym yoga.

These were all well to do housewives who knew each other well.

Well they had a dressing area but my HU DIL just pulled off her shirt with her bra on in front of everyone and changed her top. The dressing room was so close by but she did not bother with it.

No one said anything but I could tell they were put off.

I nursed my son for over 13 months. I nursed him in public when needed but always found a quiet place to sit away from people. I also always covered up with a light blanket for privacy. No one ever said a word to me because I tried to be as discrete as possible. plus on Maui people are allot cooler then most places.

Feeding a baby is allot different then let it all hang out for fun.

I am not surprised.  Europe has always been less worried about exposing body parts.  I first noticed it in Germany where people really didn't mind.

Down at the beach here in Balaton, lots of little kids running around naked.  They don't care and no-one else does either.

I always laugh about the blurring of women's nipples and wot not.  No men get their nipples blurred.   But seriously, it's sexualising boobs which are of course, primarily used for feeding children.  But what are men's nipples for?

It's like which came first, the chicken or the egg?

I know the way to find the answer to that. Order one of each separately on Amazon and see which one arrives first.  An oldie but a goldie!

Marilyn Tassy

My husband used to got o nudist beaches before he met me.

We vacation on Maui after we moved from there.

My husband bought a brand new Sony video camera when they first came out.

My mom was watching our son in Ca. so we promised to take video to share later with her.

We drove to a beach that was recommended to us that we had never been to when we lived on Maui.

Got there, parked etc. and went down to the water.

75% of the people were in the raw!!

I kept my suit on, no way would I do otherwise.

I was looking away and asked my husband something. By the time I turned to him he was in the nude and running into the water!!

I told him there was no way I was recording that beach day!!

Mom just was left out of that experience.
