Hi all,

My name's Ronald, a 30 y.o. Dutch guy. I'm already a few years in love with Asia and I did visit Thailand and Laos back in 2018 and I'm now home for like 2 weeks after visiting Viet Nam for 5 weeks. I really love the country, culture and people... The more I start to love Asia and Viet Nam especially, the more I start to hate our western manner of life.. With all our safety nets, it is a paradise for the underprivileged and I increasingly feel like a second-class citizen in my own country.

So I thought it was time to start concentrating on leaving this country in the near future (1 to 3 years). That is why I registered here to see what procedures need to be completed and to read tips from others who have been there before me.

I'm not a real expat. I never went to college and decided to join the military when I was 19, but I have been playing (online) poker all my life. Now it is difficult to do this professionally, because in Europe you have to make a lot of profit to make a living. In Viet Nam this is much easier because you need way less money. Now I know that Viet Nam has some regulations for (online) gambling, but I need to look into that more. What I do know is that the sites where I want to play on, aren't restricted, but I definitely have to look closer into it and about the taxes and stuff as well... But hey, that's why I'm here.

In the near future I will read through this forum and I hope that the topics can help me to get a better picture.

If anyone has any tips, if there are any poker professionals who have made the same move or if there are other Dutch people on this forum who have already been there before me, feel free to contact me... Otherwise we may meet on another topic.
