Moving back to India

Hi all, I'm Ronnie living in Liverpool, UK. My parents are Indian, born and brought up in Kolkata, and moved here in the late 1960s. I've thought for a long time of moving "back" to India (even though I was born in England) to learn more about my roots. The recent race riots in UK have motivated me to start looking sooner :(

I've worked in software development for over 20 years and am currently a solutions architect. Today I'm taking my first steps to learning more about what might be involved, and one of those steps is to sign up to this community! I believe that I'm eligible to be an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) due to my family background, which would simplify things.

My main interests are: how much of a culture shock would it be? I'm very westernised, and can only speak English! What job opportunities are there in different cities? I understand Bangalore is the tech capital, but I'd love to move to Kolkata as that is where my family is originally from. What other challenges could I expect?
