I'm looking at buying a rural property next year in burgas region, has to be within an hour of the coast .I have a removal buisness in the UK and would like to continue this in bulgaria if possible, even bringing people from UK to bulgaria and bulgaria back to UK and any other work with my Luton van. We're coming over in May 2025 for 2 weeks to explore all the areas we have in mind.

There are quite a few people already doing this - and quite a few who have given up after discovering that there's no way to make a living at it unless you break the rules; even then it's a lot of work for not a lot of money.

You need to jump through all sorts of legal hoops to work as a self-employed person here, and even more to open a company and work as an employee...

Thanks for your reply, maybe I will just buy a property for a holiday home till I'm ready to move permanently,  is it true that after 3 years of d visa I can apply for permanent residency

Maybe we will become digital nomads, anything to get out of UK tbh, I see alot of people moving to bulgaria to escape the British rat race, our journey will begin next year and look forward to taking on a new life in bulgaria

Unfortunately moving has become more difficult due to Brexit and more recent changes in Bulgarian immigration law.

Non-EU citizens can stay 90 days per 180 in an EU country without a visa, so 90 days in Bulgaria and 90 days in the UK or some other non-EU country is doable. Getting a D visa allowing a longer stay or a permanent move to Bulgaria can be a little more challenging.

What grounds to apply for the D visa were you planning to use?
