I suppose that is as good a reason as any to excuse that crude practice of insulting Americans to their faces at every turn, in forums such as this where Americans participate. Our population is less than Europe's yet we attract the most negative amongst them like a magnet, possibly because our high productivity results in much higher economic, Military and political global impact than their sedentary countries.  - @danfinn
That's because the US has invaded more countries, removed more democratically elected governments, and killed more people than any other country in history.
Add today's situation where the US is trying to get puppet governments into SE Asian countries in order to stop China's economic advancement, and you have to expect a few negative comments. - @Fred

Thank you for proving my point. Remember, those invasions were generally justified as necessary policing actions against regimes that threatened the West and/or were proxies with cold war enemy states because no other western moral country had the wherewithal to do it, and, they usually involved at least one western ally, often the UK, who ironically is represented on these threads as the US's biggest critic, yourself included. I disagree with your statements about puppet governments in SE Asia, try telling that to your Indo hosts. The US and EU are trying to preserve the status quo of global access to the shipping lanes in the West Philippine Sea that China believes they can claim and thus control 25% of the world economy. So we say 'no dice, China'  and you claim we are trying to stop China's economic advancement. Please pardon me for saying it but that is a rather twisted perspective, don't you think? Especially since UNCLOS denied those claims under international UN agreement. As for Taiwan, we'll that is a matter of China violating our bilateral agreement that Taiwan be kept at status quo under a one China policy. The USA isn't violating that agreement but China keeps threatening to take Taiwan (not "re-take", see below) mostly for satisfying domestic nationalist pride. Of course we cannot let China take Taiwan, a country the PRC never ruled in the past.

Fred you sound like a 33 rpm record playing at 78 speed.

China's economic advancement?

China has spent over One Trillion Dollars into development projects in Africa, Europe and Latin America for the purpose of extracting valuable resources.

WMD?

No, the US lied for oil profits and weapons sales.

Removing the democratically elected government in Ukraine to install your puppet - Justify that when the election were free and fair according to western observers, but the US replaced the legitimate government that immediately removed the pro-Russian voters from the suffrage.

Ah, said the US and their dogs, there's an uprising so we can't allow them to vote. Ah, says reality, they were trying to get back the government the majority voted for.

At least Trump might put a stop to Obama and Biden's war in Ukraine..

Where are your facts to support any and all of these allegations. Invaded more countries? Killed more people than any other country in history? Installing puppet governments? Where is this happening  which countries?

Are you serious?

@Fred

Absolutely as I believe you are merely throwing out baseless allegations.

I would agree that one simply has to look 80 odd years ago to the holocaust,,,,,,, over 6 million, the invasion of Russia in 1941, some 3.3 million trying to protect their sovereign lands,,,,, the current incidents pale by what history offers.

We can only hope crap like that never happens again.

Hey, lets get a Harvard Business School grad, venture capitalist, that's never been in the Navy or military to be Secretary of the Navy. But he is a Republican mega donor! - @Larry Fisher

@danfinn Hey I'm just wondering. Why is it you make no comment about this pick? Are you a veteran? Do you care who runs the Navy (or any branch of service)? Or are you the type that kisses the ring no matter what?

Get over it Fred and stop stoking the fire, you won't win. Go and debate this with your Indonesian expats or have you already worn out your welcome there?

As per the OP Trump won and stupidity won't change the fact. Come back in 2 or 4 years and tell all the results of Trumps 47th reign as president, until then? Go back and play in Indonesia and leave the Philippines expat forum to those that actually live here.

I can only imagine some peoples boring lives with the need to roam around different foreign forums to fill their day/night.

I haven't paid attention because as you imply, it isn't that important to me. I find the Surgeon General appointment to be more important lol. The USA is unique in that under.our Constitution, a civilian president is commander in chief of all military branches. Veteran status is not required of the commander in chief and it should not be required in any civilian appointment to secretary of any military branch. Also, I consider this a relatively minor post that is subordinate to the Defense Secretary which is a major appointment that I do pay attention to.

If you would do your research there has been some without service experience. As mention in other posts, it's the commander-in-chief that has complete control of the military branches.

This person by law must be a civilian for five years.

I predict Trump will be the last president of America as a serious world economic power.

His style will accelerate the decline of the Dollar as country after country sees the US as an unstable nation unfit to run a world currency.

He started a rebellion against the US last time, but this time he has to deal with Biden's stupidity in stealing Russia's money.

Countries, and more importantly, corrupt leaders with a lot of personal cash to lose if they face sanctions, will move away from the Dollar.

Sanctions will hit every country, but the US will get the worst of it. As retail prices are forced up, and US exports become unwelcome the sanctioned world over, the US will face a depression that will make 1929 look like nothing.

China, hurt by the loss of exports to the US but not out, will form new relationships with countries that were previously US friends. As far as the EU goes, France and Germany will be the first to ditch the Dollar.

The somewhat pathetic British government will be later, but they will cave as they realise what a mess they have got themselves into.

Much as the next few years are likely to be rough for many people, it will be the end of the US as the world's bully. The US will have only two choices; war in the hope of hanging on, or dismantle their military as it becomes unaffordable.

In some ways, Trump will do the world a favour, but the US will either a war too deal with, or see their country fade into weak shadow of its former self. The difference is, instead of TV wars against countries that have no hope of attacking te US mainland, it will bring the death and destruction the US so commonly exports right home to Washington and New York.

July 4th will be celebrated for a while longer, but it will be a bit mute in years to come as nobody there will have the cash to buy flags and fireworks.

Trump - The last US president to run the world through fear and fire, and the first to run an enshittified America.

O yea of f/all faith Fred, go back in your hole and play the wait and see game, Golly is nothing happening in Indonesia that you can fluff with? Did your dash with me and most here, time to get a life mate.

Your predictions are tiresome and pathetic. I guess you forgot that Trump was previously in office for 4 years and yet none of your predictions came true then either? Why should we believe you now.

But they did, at least the history we now read.

Trump saw the EU as a threat, and NATO as a toy to be used to get his way. The EU commonly disagreed with Trump's policies and general stupidity in way the world had never seen before.

The UKand EU have two forces to consider - They have a massive relationship with China that Trump will try to get rid of, and a bully across the pond the EU wants to work with, not be an enemy of. Sadly, Trump sees the EU as a problem to solve.

Angela Merkel made her feeling pretty clear - something that was new to US politics.

Trump's gift to the US was a world that viewed the US very differently, and not in a good way.

His foolishness laft an unrepairable mark last time but, after Biden's utter mess, he's very likely to push Germany and France towards China.

At the end of the day, cash is king, and the cash is harvested by doing business with capitalist China.

Extremists, both communists and fascists, share one common trait - they are unable to express their idealism in a logical manner, so they go for insults instead.
