Hello

I am an Indian, living in Germany from 8 years. we as a couple '(me and my wife both are Indian) and would like to adopt child from India. We went to Jugendamt and they mentioned that up to 2022 ,  it was possible to adopt child from India in Germany, but now not, due to political situation,.  Now we want to ask this question to Jugendamt, however before proceeding , would like to get some opinion here

"If we adopt child in India (according to Indian adoption law) and then apply for Family Reunion visa for Germany" Would it be a legal case or were there any consequences in Germany for him/her or for us?" we are already living in Germany and not moving from India

As the Jugendamt told you, it is very difficult to impossible to adopt a child from abroad. This is due to much abuse (child trafficking) in the past.

If you adopt a child under Indian law, it is NOT automatically your child under German law. Get advice from a good lawyer in international family law before you do anything, as you might end up harming the child!

There are plenty of deserving children up for adoption within the EU (and the formalities, although esier, still too much for many would-be parents!). Why do you want a child from India?
