if you want to apply for a D7 visa, you'll need to have a bank account, a tax identification number, and accommodation (to buy or rent). So what I suggest is that you take a trip to Portugal and hire a solicitor in PT to help you with these procedures. Or you can do all of this yourself (free) ...

If you use an online company / agent to get your NIF number and bank account open in Portugal, you'll need to give them copies of all your ID documents, and sign a document giving them legal power to be your representative in Portugal.

NOT  recomended if you don't know who this company is, where they are registered as a business, are they professional lawyers, accountants, etc.

A canadian couple used one such service they picked online and unsuspectingly they signed for a monthly fee of over 200 Euros to be taken out of their bank account forever, and then their circunstances changed and they decided not to move, that's when they found out it was a boggus service. After having given them digital copies of all their ID docs. And this "company" kept asking them for their driving licenses, even after they told them they were not going to drive in Portugal and did not want to buy or register a car.

As recommended above, go to Portugal, and do everything yourself securely and for free.

You just do that by walking into any local Finanças (Tax Office) to apply for your NIF number. You'll receive it a couple of weeks later by post with a code to operate your NIF tax account online.  And with your NIF number you can walk into any bank of your choice and open an account.

Or pick a portuguese solicitor or lawyer registered in Portugal with the Ordem dos Advogados Portugueses (Portuguese Bar Association).

P.S. Did you check which country uses the .io domain???

Not sure it’s true you can just walk into any bank and open an account - For example there are different rules at Millennium BCP for if you’re a citizen of Britain vs Canada. Britain I had to be going to prove that I had residency in Britain, Canada she wanted me to be from there so that it could match up with the address on my NIF document, which happened to be Canada … I don’t know that bank account opening is “easy”, as it felt like I got somewhat lucky with the process.

The procedure for opening a bank account for non-residents depends on the bank. Some banks make it easier, while others do the opposite. You have some support here.
