Exactly 3 years ago, at the height of the authoritarian and draconian covid response here in Australia, I sold our home with the intention of relocating to El Salvador. My wife and I arrived there on 27 March, 2022, staying in El Zonte.
I am a passionate surfer and Bitcoiner and I fell immediately in love with the country, surf and people - in spite of that being the weekend when president Bukele had to declare a state of emergency due to the worst day of gang violence since the civil war (I believe).
We visited again with our 2 grown up sons in May, however we could not agree on staying and returned to Australia in June.
I have struggled to settle back in Australia, and am looking for work opportunities in El Salvador in order to justify my moving there and also to establish myself within the community. My wife would remain here for now and I have the means to pay for relocation.
I have a mechanical engineering degree but have worked in the software industry for 20 years. I resigned my CTO role of 20 years last year in order to devote myself full time to Bitcoin advocacy and adoption.
