Money transfer from Australia

MarkinNam

Hi, I'm taking the plunge ( many will say, what stopped me ) so now I'm looking into banks which are easy to deal with, ANZ and NAB have branches in Sai Gon so tomorrow I'll be going to ask a lot of questions.I've given up trying to give things way so op shops will get much of my stuff here. do any Australians have advice on what they have found successful ? thanks for any advice Mark the procrastinator.

Apply for a WISE card before you leave Oz.  Send me a private message if you want a referral.  I have found it indispensable.

IMO, without a doubt, the easiest and best method is the site, Hai Ha (hhmt.com.au).

I have now used them for many YEARS.

Cash delivery to your door same day! Literally.

Ditto direct bank transfer to any VN bank account.

Low fees. Certainly about 1/5 of bank fees.

WISE dont give cash delivered to your door.  They give you a multi currency debit card but their fees and exchange rates are modestly better than Hai Ha.  You cam also load up the VN sub account when exchange rates are favourable etc.

Thanks to both of you, I been searching and found Bendigo bank have a Neo bank connected with them, it has 0 to low fees and being a bank, a place to have term deposits at differing maturity rates. not fussed about money to my door idea and card is better for me. P&N want $5.00 /ATM where up-bank has no charges.

@MarkinNam

The Upbank has no way of checking expiry time on their card other than downloading their app, and no Contact us link on their page.

interesting to know about Bendigo.

I'll speak to them Tuesday

Signed up with NAB, the offer was reasonable with no transaction fees overseas

@MarkinNam

Can you please give more details of what exactly NAB offered (and why it was best for you)?

@MarkinNam

It's often not the fees but the exchange rate a bank charges that kill you.

All my business banking in Oz is with NAB and I wouldn't dream of using them for currency exchange (assuming that was what u were chasing).

I've been using XE.com for many years. Easy to deal with. Check them out and see if they can help you. Free transfers from bank account and very quick service.
