@Unknown fan
Even to employer they are not giving the status of the case.
It depends ,
- for example my friend applied for himself after 4 years working. But the reason was he could not prove 4 years payslips (applied a few months advance)
- In another case IBZ didnt see necessary- manpower out of EU for that job so they rejected 3 times.
@maharaji1984
About the unnecessary manpower out of EU, what was his job exactly?
Single permit renewal
Region: Flanders
Application: 10/12/24
WP: 02/01/25
RP: Waiting
Region Brussels
Application date (renewal): 16 Oct 2024
Admissible: 24 Dec 2024
WP/PR: still waiting
@jane92873
Seems way too long. Maybe check with your employer or the work permit office if something is missing.
@habtgeb2018
I see from previous post that the work permit take 3 - 5 weeks, but you're is processing since more than 3. It's ok ofcourse, will be approved eventually, but I just mean that it's longer than usual for some reason. Maybe they're waiting for a document and forgot to say so?
@mjarmak
I contacted the employer, and they told me that my single permit application must first be processed by the Region, then by the Foreigners Office. The Region has not yet made a decision regarding my work application. Once they do, the application will be forwarded to the Foreigners Office for them to decide on the stay and issue the single permit.
My contract should start on 1st January this year. Do you know who I should contact for any updates? Like the Region Office
@jane92873
You can contact the federal mediator and he will rush them if they exceeded 3 months I think reply@federaalombudsman.be
@Nandar Hlaing
Last Thursday, my employer was finally notified by the Region that my dossier was declared admissible, so making the total count to almost three months (for the admissibility stage only!). The real countdown starts from the admissibility declaration, i.e., the Region (and the IBZ) have a maximum of four months together to issue a decision - something that the Region does not agree with. They are saying that it is only them that have four months, and then it is another four for the IBZ, citing a new decree by the Brussels mayor from September 2024. We'll see, otherwise even four months in total makes no rational sense: for me, this is just a renewal, and restarting work sometime in late spring beats the whole purpose...
@mjarmak
Thank you very much. I have just sent an email to him and hope to receive a reply soon.
Region: Flanders
Application: 31/12/24
WP: waiting
RP: Waiting
Does the work permit alone allow you to get a visa D?
Hi all, here is my timeline (Brussels, first time application)
Submitted: 28/10/24
WP: 22/01/25
RP: Still waiting
I had to wait a lot longer than others for my WP, so I hope the Annex 46 comes quicker than average! Does anyone else have a similar timeline to me?
Good luck to everyone still waiting for approval.
Rosie
@rosieallison95
A similar case for me—our submission and WP processing times are similar. When I contacted IBZ, they said they would need around 10 weeks to process the residence permit. I think Belgium has one of the longest document processing times in EU; if someone wants to work there, they need to apply at least six months in advance.
@a19
Which region? And which work sector?
Today my friends got SP , BUT I am still waiting
My friend WP-18/01/2025
My WP- 13/01/2025
Probably I will also get in 1 or 2 days
@a19
Which region it was?
Does flanders region has shorter timelines than Brussels? 10 weeks for RP is a lot.
@Ritik Panwar
And what's the field? I think the duration for the work permit differs based on the job title. I think IT is usually the fastest.
@businessqueries273
it was for Brussels region
Which work sector guys?
@Ritik Panwar
Hmm I suppose 2 months is the average for IT this year
@a19
I got my Annex 46 today! So for me, the time between WP and RP was very short - although the time for the WP to come was lengthy. I did contact IBZ at the start of this week to enquire, so maybe that helped speed up the process.
Good luck with your request!

Rosie - @rosieallison95
Update: RP received on 05/02/2025 😁
@rosieallison95
Congrats!
I suppose they accelerated their work since you were passing the 3 month mark.
@rosieallison95
Congrulations! what they said you when you contacted IBZ? did you contact to infodesk@ibz.fgov.be or by phone?
@mjarmak
Thank you very much. I have just sent an email to him and hope to receive a reply soon. - @jane92873
They replied that the Federal Ombudsman's mission is to investigate complaints related to federal administrations. Since the Region is not a federal administration but a regional one, they cannot intervene.
As the region handling my application is likely the Brussels Capital Region, they advice I contact Ombuds Brussels to lodge a complaint.
@jane92873
Then you can contact the Ombuds Brussels.
Here is my timeline for change of employer from Brussels to Flanders:
Application - 4/11/2024
WP - 11/12/2024
RP - 08/02/2025
@Esra gecer
You got the residence permit on a Saturday? 😮
@shadow98
Any news for you?
hi everyone, I'm renewing my residence card and I got my annex 49 today in the meantime I'm waiting my RP approval, does anyone know if with this doc am I allowed to travel outside Schengen and re-enter Belgium?
@a19
Thanks! I contacted them first by phone, and they told me they couldn't track my application unless I sent an email with my passport in copy and the details of my application (work permit also attached). I sent this to the email address on the website, and I got a brief reply that they were 'forwarding my email to the relevant branch'. A few days later, my employer received the Annex 46 🙂
