Want trustworthy visa agent/lawyer English speaking

Post new topic

I came in on a spousal visit visa and was to seek a residence permit, which I did not do. (Long story). I am concerned I may not get out of the SZX airport for my flight on and wonder if anyone has experienced or knows of similar situations; eg was a fine or penalty imposed?

IF you know of an English speaking visa agent or lawyer you are willing to recommend for advice, I would appreciate it.

Have you overstayed your visa ?

Hi,

I think that you are required to submit an application for a Residence Permit within 28 days of arriving in the country. So I would predict that you are not now going to get one on this visit. If your Visitor's Visa has expired then they will fine you according to the number of days that you have overstayed. In that event it is wise to confess to being stupid and apologise - taking a lawyer could be viewed as confrontational as you would be facing a statutory fine not a prison sentence.

Your best bet is to pay a visit to the Chengdu PSB (Public Security Bureau – Foreign Affairs & Visa Office). You can find their location, off Tianfu Square, on the internet. They will clarify what your situation is and give you official advice as to how to proceed. If you get an application for a Residence Permit while you are there then you can see what documents are required. You should note that the first application (not for renewals) requires a full medical examination. This is normally performed in Tonzalin, Chengdu. Take an interpretor because it is not the easiest building to navigate if you dont speak Chinese.

You shouldn't need an Agency as the proceedure is simple - Medical Test, complete the Permit Application Form, hand it in at the PSB along with your proofs (copies plus origionals) plus passport, wait say half an hour to be called for an interview - origional proofs such as birth and wedding certificates are returned), wait about 3 weeks subject to national holidays, pay the fee and collect your passport containing you new Residence Permit (probably valid for 24 months) - job done.

Good luck,

Bob
