Wise money account and EDB

nicholasmound

Hi everyone

I am in the UK and considering opening a Wise account in UK. For the retirement permit application it possible to submit proof of the $18 000 fund held in the UK, but held in a Wise UK account?

Many thanks, Nick

The requirements are:

6.3. CRITERIA

1. A Retired Non-Citizen should submit a recent certified bank statement from the

retired non-citizen’s country of origin or residence, showing –

(a) a minimum amount of USD 18,000; or

(b) a guaranteed minimum income of USD 1,500 per month.

I think the problem you will have is that they are requesting a certified bank statement. I don't think Wise can do this? Check with Wise.

I would like to visit Mauritius before I apply for the retirement visa to make sure the country would be a good fit for me. Should I wait before opening the bank account and is there specific bank I should look into?

Visit first, and spend at least 3-4 weeks; preferably in different parts of the island. Use the local facilities and transport. GO to the markets as well as the malls. See whether your lifestyle is suitable. Only then can you decide to look further into relocation.

Best wishes.
