Well.It depends when everything starts. If it starts from sex than it is only for the time pass but if it starts with some soul connections ,like common interests, friendship than happy to see each other
and be together than if it goes longer than sex is the way to show love and to feel it too.

Sex is so good with love! and love is so good with sex! one without the other is inferior! well, what is not inferior without love!? so, love is the answer, and love is all you need! Indeed! (unless you drink. Alcohol will fix the problem of one being impossible without the other. Well, everybody knows that, otherwise this question wouldn't emerge in the first place...and that's why we, the modern peoples of this world, separated them from one another when really they are one, love&sex.)

the difference is that u can easily get sex for free or with money, u just need a body as there are many other ways to get sexual satisfaction;
you can control sex in where and when as well as with who and how u make it but when love happens, life has a speacial and deep sense then u find yourself more attracked to the soul of the person you love more then just a body though you respect, you care and no doubt sex will be full of desire and pleasure

Lucky r those who find true love in their lives and can hang on to it... Not throw it away for sex....
