Does anybody have a list of retailers along with phone numbers for both major and small appliances...good brands, please.

Thank you in advance!

hkann

I suggest you look at ghanaweb.com in their classified section for lists of retailers or businessghana.com as you can find them there too. There is also a Game store at the Mall where we bought most of our items and they have proved to be reliable.

PULOAYANFUL

Do you know if the game store has a website? Thank you very much. You have been very helpful.

hkann

No idea about a website but it is a South African company

Do you still need some appliances? I have a small startup , soon going online that could send you appliances from the uk and get it delivered to your door...

what are looking for?

PULOAYANFUL

yes, we will be needing just about all appliances for our new house. Is there a way to view your products?

I also suggest you compare prices with those items already in Ghana. When we came we brought in a few things but by the time you have added on the duty payable on the items and the cost of shipping etc it was cheaper to get them here.
Of course you will get a wider range of products overseas and often they are the latest models which is not always the case here.
Another thing you can do is look on accraexpat and other websites that sell items and you can often find secondhand items from people who are leaving. We have got some good bargains like that.

Is there a expat classifieds or newsletter I can access?

hkann

accraexpat.com has a classified section which is free unless you are a company

Its much cheaper to buy the appliances there in Ghana. I shipped a bunch of items from North America and honestly all you save on is the product, shipping from wherever in the world into Ghana is very costly. I was a buyer for a large housing company in the free zone area in Tema, and its the levies and fees that make it not worth it on small purchases.

I air-freight my orders and the levies (+margin)for electronics I found did not make the cost of products more costly than the prices most pay.

Interesting though that the levies appear to be impeding competition...
