Salary info for maid

fuchsiapostcard

Hi I'd like some guidelines on maid's wages for Bandra as am hearing a lot of different salary schemes. I currently have a maid but wish to hire another person to play role of cleaner. Both would work 6 day week from 9:30am - 5:30pm. We have 7 rooms hence I'm splitting the maids' workload.

Housekeeper's role
Light cleaning (kitchen, dining room, master & study room)
Ironing
Prep work (I will cook)
Cleaning toilet

Cleaner's role
Sweeping
Moping
Vacuuming
Wiping windows
Cleaning toilet

Am I right to say the wages for part-timer would be cheaper compared to a live-in? Also, the maids are expecting non-Indian expat households to pay more? Thanks.

In a place like Bandra you should be prepared to pay Rs.2500-3000 to each maid. Yes part time will cost less as compared with live in. Naval

Thanks Naval. I'm finding that no English speaking maid would be keen in the salary you'd mentioned. A minimum of Rs 8000 is required, this is acceptable rate for a non-Indian expat family.

It may be worthwhile to retain both the maids with 20% - 30% less time and commensurate remuneration. This way you will have less dependence.
