Kingkon

I have just moved to Cologne from Port Elizabeth South Africa. Married a German Girl.
I am a Graphic Designer and Fine artist, Photographer and Film maker.
I did Brazilian Jiu Jitsu back home and I am looking for a club to join here in Cologne.
Any advice (especially on Medical aid) would greatly be appreciated.
I would love to meet some other South Africans. I am also looking for work.
Hope to hear from somebody soon!

Marelise

Good morning Kingkon,
My name is Marelise and I also come from Port Elizabeth.  My husband Lindo is also SAfrican(Durbanite)and we are having a "Bring and Braai" on our small holding approximately 20km outside Cologne in Much (countryside).  You and your family are welcome join us on the 16th of June starting at 10.00.  We supply the grounds and the rest you have to bring, meat, utensils, chairs, tent (welcome to overningt on our grounds), drinks and a good attitude!  We cleared one of our Barns in order to have a merry "Lekker" South African "opskop".  Seeing that it is a 200 years old Farmhouse under renovation I advice no smart clothing.
If you are interested please let me know and I will email our address.

Hi to Marelise and Kingkon

I recently subscribed to Expat-Blog hoping to make contact with people in Cologne. I am also from Port Elizabeth and lived in Durban for many years and in the UK for the past 15 years. My family and I are planning to move to Cologne on about the 15th of July this year. We are bringing our household furniture over in a self drive van and plan to store our furniture in self storage in Cologne while we look for an unfurnished house to rent. We hope to be staying in self-catering accommodation while we conduct our search. If you know anyone who has a house to let please let us know. My wife is a school teacher, my son a music teacher (drummer), my daughter in law has conveyancing and secretarial experience and I have a broad range of business experience such as Executive Sales/Sales Management, Project Management, Internet Marketing, Business Development background.

We would also love to meet people in Cologne once we are there!

Any advice would also be appreciated!
