Getting married in Switzerland

Post new topic

Armand

Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in Switzerland or who are about to get married in Switzerland to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in Switzerland? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of Switzerland)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Thank you in advance for participating,

Armand

Hi all,

All this following informations:

How do I marry a Swiss when I am a foreigner (in Switzerland)?
How do I marry a Swiss when I am a foreigner (abroad)?
What are my rights if I have married a Swiss?
Who do I contact to obtain further information?
What must I do to marry in Switzerland as a tourist?
As a foreign resident in Switzerland, what must I do to be joined by my fiancé or fiancée?

are here :)http://switzerland.isyours.com/e/immigr … index.html

For my personal experience:

My swiss wife organised everything. I was working too much. I had only to buy my clothes and to go by the registry office. Perhaps I had to give some signature :)

So for me it was really but really easy ... like my divorce :D

have fun people :)

Thanks for your contribution oiseaubleu!;)

Oh ... something other really special.

In switzerland it give the "pacs". It's a law for homosexual persons which will live together like "married".

It's not possible in all "canton" but some of them have agree to the federal law.

Here the link of the federal law (french - german - Italien / english not traduced)

That's a good information source indeed. Describes exactly the things I had to do in order to marry here.

The website has many more informations, but seems to be outdated at some points. It quotes an exchange rate of 1 CHF to 0.68 EUR, which does not make sense at all any more - in other words, I would like to give them 680 euro and get 1'000 CHF in return from them.
