Find a place to live with the family

I'm an Italian worker being transferred in few months in Bruxelles. My job will be south of Brusselles, around 45 km, and would like to find a good zone in the city centre or very close for the family, taking in consideration that we have two daughters, 3 and 4, and that they will need to go to school. I've seen also that private schools are too expensive thus I will search, I think, a public school.
Any suggestion?

Where is your job exactly?

If your job is really 45km away from Brussels, I would NOT recommend living in Brussels and commuting. Brussels being a capital city and property prices are not surprisingly much higher than the rest of Belgium.

i'd recommend living closer to work.
