I have been accepted into ULB to do postgraduate studies.
I have managed to get a loan from the UK for £10,000 which works out to about 11,364 euros. The course is 2 years in length so I know I only have enough for one year.
What would you say is a reasonable budget for groceries for students? I have heard estimates between 100-300 euros per month.
Also I only speak english, I guess that excludes me from finding any work in Brussels, at least at first, right?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can check with ULB. They have an office that gives info re students' jobs... There is also a weekly magazine for the anglo community (The Bulletin) They should have an online version...maybe check their job offer but again only English might not be sufficient..

Budget for groceries... not less than 300... would say about 100 euros per week
Anyway I hardly encourage you to learn French;
Good luck

Hi there,
I'm an au pair in Brussels. That could be an option for work where you don't have to speak French. Most people speak English here. You could do a live in or live out arrangement as long as your classes didn't conflict with that.
Cheers!
Karen
