Hi Nick,

I can advise you that the marcory area is good for shopping, in Prima and cap sud shopping mol, prices are very high comparing to europe for clothing and hairdresser. Cheapest clothing goes from 20 eur up. Hairdressers as well from 20 eur up. Food also I find it very expensive for the local standard. I have not come accross gym so far, also if you have any advise of any kind of fund things to do in abidjan for english speakers please let me know.

Mimi kone

well first for the gym, i used to go to one in ingré 7eme trench, i don't remember the name exactly but you can't miss it, it's in the entrance of neighborhood. Now for food the BEST PLACE is "PACO" so far, plus when i went there i also met with a lot of other english speakers. lol there are other good restaurants too, but i like paco because of their Hamburgers and fries lol since i am an american born. it cost 3500 mili cfa, which is really good price. now do not ever go to the open  market by yourself, because the villagers will cheat you out of your money. I love my people but thats the truth lol. I also notice that when i speak french with them, the price is high, but when i speak my native tongue, they bring down the price. the best thing for you to do is find someone trustworthy to do your shopping at the open market. oh and the open market is always cheaper than the super markets like Sococe. also it's great if you wake up early morning starting at 6:30 or 7am to go run, because you are likely to meet someone who speak english, and that can also help you out when you need help. mmm if you need more information about anything please feel free to ask me, i know other good restaurants with good food and good price.

Peace!

oh for taxi in abidjan, if they ever go higher than 2000, then they are cheating you out. mostly all places you probably are going to go to will be 500-2000.

goodluck!
