I've lived in Sharm for 4 years, do local airport runs, sell Avon cosmetics and my UK business funds my lifestyle.  It takes a bit of getting used to but after the initial transition you'll get to love or hate the place.  Just be careful of the cliques and trusting coffee shop boys.  Stay clear of Naama and go to local places like Hadaba, Hay El Nour for the authentic egypt and I can show you all the expat places if you want English bars etc... Good luck with the move, best thing I ever did.  Oh and if you want a dog I have puppies needing rehoming - me and a local egyptian woman rescue street dogs.  I have 4!!
