It is definitely worth coming here and dropping CVs by hand. I did this and got a job back in 2007.

I'm heading over to Abu Dhabi from Toronto, Canada with my wife in August, and have been applying like a mad man for the past 2 months. Like you, I work in the marketing industry, but I think we're in the field which requires us to be located within the country to be considered for a position.

I can see hiring a teacher/lawyer/doctor abroad, but our job involves too much of a personal approach to hire someone within that face to face interview...

Keep searching, but from what I've gathered, we'll have to be there to get a job..

and as an FYI, Dubai is TAPPED OUT and SATURATED to hell with people just like us going over there... Maybe take a look at Doha/Abu Dhabi? Just a thought..
