Hello. My name is Heather and currently live in USA. I wanted to meet people who currently live in Kyoto and ask about cost of living. I want to finish my bachelors degree then begin moving. My dream has always been to live in Kyoto. Can anyone help?

I wish you the best of luck.  Kyoto is incredible.  Nara too.  It does get quite warm in the summer.  My wife is Japanese.  We'll be moving to Sapporo in about a year.  You just need to 'be' there to soak up the culture.  I stayed in a nice apartment in Gion for a week.  For sure - don't hesitate to go there - follow your bliss!

Best wishes,

Hi Heather!

I moved to Kyoto back in April and loving it here!
Unfortunately it's really expensive here, although not as much as Tokyo. I think you need a clear plan of where you're going to live and what you're going to do once you get here because the money will dry out fast.
You're looking at about 40000-70000 yen just for accommodation and a further 30000-50000 for food. It obviously depends on how you spend money, but it's not a cheap city!
I'm also writing a blog on Kyoto so you can check it out whenever :)
