Just to update you there are some tours available for women. Usually includes visit to Bedouin tents, ancient sites, caves and desert trips. I think if ur an out door person u may like it. Bit of ibn battuta exploration . Soooo life can be a little adventurous in Saudi if u like that type if thing.
So, I was reading all the talkin from start to bottom, & just like a Story book, so much suspense remains ...
" So What Actually Happened in the End? Did it happen, the CLUB!!! "
Thanks & Regards,
Good Boy.
Hi all,

Hello Everyone

Al-Hasa already has a club. We got a desert trip to yellow lake this weekend. Try to join
There is no expat community here. There are British community, South African community, Spanish speaking community, Egyptians, Lebanese, Philippines, Pakistani... and many more. Even American-Canadian communities are different for English natives and Muslim-Arab natives, while the Indian communities are separate by castes.
The people here are with very different mentality, interests, income, lifestyle, working schedules, families etc., just accidentally collected together into the same sandbox. They are active mostly in the very beginning while they are new here and trying to understand where they are. Later they find their own circle of friends with common interests, their own niche for survival here, and disappears from public gatherings.
I go to the beach with Philippines, parties - with Spanians or my compatriots, official and KSA history events - with Brits, cultural events - with Germans, travel with Saudis, hash runs and camping - with everyone who likes this.
There are expat groups in Facebook - each was full of events in their beginning while driven by newcomers, and now almost dead. Same thing about internations.org

you have an excellent understanding of how this actually works.
while it is true that the legendary "Expat Club" actually existed and had (at a point of time) over 20 members, we all scattered. just like the explanation you gave above.
no names shall be taken, but i was moved out of my own initiative clubs invitations, probably because of my new found hobby (photography) or my religion, my beard or just the fact that i dont "drink".
or maybe its all a misunderstanding on my part.
but everyone is excited at first. little stick to the end.
I started this thread to get people together because everyone was complaining that they coudln't make friends an all and later it became a gathering place for people who want to actually meet. but now its just a echo valley where everyone can shout, where is the Expat-Club
get a life and make one already.
Salman (releasing stress)

A bit dramatic, hey And we both know who was behind it but you did have/do have good friends who stuck by you
Hmmm...the beard...so scary, kidding. Ur intentions r good but probably started some trouble somewhere. Anyway our club is now 5 years old without drinking lol. Bit more success.

Yes, I believe there was a 'misstep' that caused a few people to over-react. It's the only thing we could figure because who wouldn't love Salman?
count me in by the way ...

well you are always right yes, i kinda felt like saying it. so dramatic it may be and our little group was the beginning of our version of Expat club and sorta the closure as well. now that all of you have left me alone. but i always used to say, quality over quantity
and for the record, there is no one i know on this blog sweeter than Aliecat

1. I like 'sam' better than good boy since do I really *know* you're a good boy ?!?
2. Take my advice--if you put this to a vote, it's just going to go round and round. YOU pick an activity, a PLACE, and throw out 2 or 3 tentative dates/times and take it from there.
Congrats on the initiative!
well...
OK then... Thursday it is,,, 17 Jan, 2013 ...
Suleimania... the place is near to Jarir Book Store... ii guess its convenient ...
You guys can still suggest about the Location ... as per my idea, its suitable, if you know any better one... share it...
Anyone willing to join... Inbox me, i can share my cellphone no. in inbox to guide you about the Location...
Contact me for anymore discussion...
Since ALLIE is a VIP member here... & a Senior one... so Shes the MANager (of this event).
Salman Omrani, the Guy who actually had this CONCEPT & the Founder of this Club, shall be our first Chief guest...
Rest shall pay their own bills
We need a Facebook page for our Club... we need a Facebook Specialist for this... So, whose up for that? do we have any Volunteer ???
@Real Good Boy -> Why Facebook? I think we should keep members of Expat.com, on Expat.com itself!
PS: You meet up idea is ! Hope you'll get a lot of responses.
Thank you,
Aurélie
well... lets see...
