Pectin for jam/jelly

Hi Guys,

I wanted to try making my own jam/jelly and the recipe requires pectin.I'm wondering if this ingredient is available here in Vietnam.If yes, do you know what is it called in Vietnamese and the address of the place where I can buy? I want to make my own jam so that I can control the amount of sugar im taking in.Some family members are diabetic so I am watching what I'm eating.

Pectin in a specialized starch that will link to itself and other ingredientss to form a thick "gelatinized" product.

One of the people at work who is an avid cook says she uses unflavoured gelatine, adding a little each time until the consistency is right.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a UN/NGO adviser down in the MeKong and he suggested you can make your own pectin from apples.
