Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the answers.
I have been reading a lot in the forum, and now it seams to bee very difficult starting a new life there.
I see that a lot of peolple chosing to move in malta.
One of my worries are the landlords.
I read a lot of bad thinks in here, asking for extra money for bills ect.
Is it realy like that?
How we can chose a good one?
I have been living in Italy as well and never got a problem to get a job in the hospitality,or any kind of job,but with the time the economy is just getting wors.
We would only like to live somewhere warmer, less rain:)
We got a lilttl girl she is 2,and she will need a nursery when we will be working.
Anfortunatly we dont have good qualifications but ready to do any job.
Anybody knows the nursery prices?
How long aboout it will bee to get any kind of job, just so we know how much money we need to survive the period without jobs.
And something very importand is the healthcare, can we just register at the gp?
Thanks to all
Reni

Hi Reni,

it is not always warm in Malta. In fact the winters can be very bad as it is very difficult to heat the houses/appartments.

When you have a job and pay National Insurance contributions you will qualify for free health treatment , otherwise you will have to have private health insurance or other entitlements. It is not the UK system.Check out the details of the Maltese system.

Looking for any job without having qualifications is not a good thing as the pay will be very low. You should make sure that you have enough money saved to weather bad times. I can't say how much - that is a difficult question.

Cheers
Ricky

Hi my name is rick. I am an aussie of maltese background. What i cant understand is, why anyone would want to work in malta. Dont get me wrong i love malta. I visit there every 3 or 4 years, but working there, to me doesent make sense. First of all the pay is lousy and working conditions not much better. Malta to me is a good place to retire its close to everywhere in europ. But anyway thats just my opinion.

not a bad question to be fair......

Hi Rick,

welcome to the forum.

I agree with you on your opinion that Malta is ideal for retiring to. I know several Aussies with Maltese background now living in Malta. But also Expats from many other countries (like me) find Malta a great place to live if you don't have to work.

In many cases I too wonder why people consider moving to Malta and having to find a job. There are exceptions where it makes sense and works out well but in many cases it doesn't.

Will we be seeing you in Malta when you retire? -)))

Cheers
Rick(y)

We dont like living in here mainly becouse of the weather.
We have chosen Malta, and not becouse we want to get reach there.
But for living we need to get job as we havent won the lottery yet:)
We dont have a bad life here we both got jobs and enough money to live happy, and afford thins.
Im 31 so im not willing to wait untill i get retired to live happy somewhere else where is warm and beautiful, different lifestile.
Here the rain and the cold is depressing.
I konow moving to malta is a big step and we will have much less money for living and for general thinks, but i prefer than living here in the cold and spend 300pounds for heating monthly in the "summer".
For me its just happed to be here,i love my partner(David he is scottish)and not going anywhere without him and our baby,we have decided this together.
Sorry i dont mean anythong bad about brittan its just the weather and i cant get used to it.
Im sure Ricky that how you wrote sometimes also in malta is less warm but here the summer is 10celsius.
Im ready to go however.
Thanks to all for the replyes.
And thanks Expat.com i got a lot of informaiton that we need to know before moving.

You are moving for all the right reasons and with no blinkered look. Your Child will grow up in a wonderful society and enjoying the sunshine... yes this Winter was cold and yesterday was chilly... about 32 degrees ...brrrrrr. ;)

What does you Husband do for work ??

You will spend less than £300 a month for Rent never mind Electric.

yes you can, but unless you've owned it for 2 years, there will be a registration tax of hundreds and probably thousands of euros
