Hello,

Where can I go to buy a cake that is not an ice cake and wrapping paper in Saigon?

Anatta

Not sure what you need, but have you tried Brodard? They make different kinds of cakes.

Do you have an address?

I like their tiramisu.

Otherwise, "tous les jours" is also a popular chain, but I have not tried ordering their cakes yet.

For those who are interested in the history of Saigon, the original Brodard cafe and bakery at Catinat street (now Dong Khoi, D1) was associated with the "Golden Age" Saigon before 1975, where it was the place to be seen for the celebrities and politicians along with the Continental café, Pôle Nord ice-cream shop, Givral bakery,... Brodard shop was closed a few years ago, but the name lives on as the name of a new chain. The same has happened with Givral.

You can buy cakes at Tous Les Jour with no icing or order them  to be made with no icing.

Wrapping paper can be found at Citimart or at toy stores, ribbon, too.  Have seen birthday hats and candles at Maximark.  These things are becoming more popular.

Nhu Lan at 50 Ham Nghi makes cakes and decorates them to order.

About wrapping paper, you can find at the any bookstore, like Nguyen Hue Bookstore ( FAHASA bookstore) at 40 Nguyen Hue, Dist.1 or Saigon Bookstore at 60 Le Loi, Dist.1.
I myself often buy the wrapping paper at Ngàn Thông Shop ( a small shop near Saigon Bookstore).
