Hi This is Alok from bangalore..i'm currently considering a job offer at Norway as hardware&network engineer.I was informed that my salary would be 2 lakhs INR per month after tax cut and there would be food and accomodation from the company.I kind of know that Norway is one of the expensive locations and day to day needs are quite expensive there.
I'm curious to know whether this is a decent salary there for a person with family to stay and save something at the end of day.

Please provide your inputs as my decision to accept depends on valuable inputs from you people.

Regards,
Alok

i kind of did a conversion of 2 lakhs INR to get 21,255 NOK,which wud be after tax cut.

That's not a very high salary, but if you have accommodation and food paid by the company, then I would say that is quite a lot.

Thanks David for the quick reply...one more thing..wat is the percentage of tax cutting applicable for an IT job in norway. Also do you have information on whether the accomodation provided will be good and individual basis or do they have sharing system.

Regards,
Alok

Hello,

I'm not sure what you mean by tax cutting. I would guess you will be paying around 36% income tax. There is a fairly high tax level on everything else. For instance, owning a car would be very expensive. As for accommodation, I don't know what this company would provide. Have they told you anything about it?

David

Mre92

you will do fine with 21,255 NOK, taxes are 36% for most people.

Hello,

Norway is a very expensive country, so if you are coming here you should make sure that you have enough money. Indian food, or at least what Europeans call Indian food, is readily available in restaurants, supermarkets and specialist shops.
