Hi everyone, have just moved to Malta and am finding it difficult to find a place near Gzira where you can buy a weekly shop? Any local cheap supermarkets?

Thanks :)

Hi sophie,

there is an "AD Supermarket" near the BMW carshop, who should have everything, but I'm not sure about the prizes, since i only went there once.
normally I go to Lidl in San Gwann, who is quite cheap. depending from where in Gzira you live, you can take the Bus 22 and 32 to the station "Balal".

Other cheap supermarkets i didn't find near, just the small ones around.

Croato

There is also "Gala", in Testaferata street.

Totally agree with Croato.. I think Gala Supermarket is the best one in Gzira - it's in Testaferrata Street, on the way to Msida.  Miracle Foods in Msida Road, Gzira has got unbeatable prices, but they sell mostly frozen foods, but still worth a look.

Miracle foods is near to the sea. after busstop "gzira" you can go left or right on a main-street. go right (as shown on the link ;)).

at gala i didn't went yet (but will test it soon, thx for this tip :)), but at goggle-maps, it seems it is at the end of the street.

Sorry about the late reply Sophie.. I do suggest Google Maps and make your way with that as I find it very hard to give exact directions given the frequency I'm on the Island.. most I can say is it's on the way from Gzira to Ta Xbiex, on foot, using the coast road but go up the hill away from the sea on the right of the A1 Bar at the corner, in front of Gzira Marina Gardens. If you ask around there for the Gala, or the Skoda Car Showroom, people will direct you to it.. and well everyone knows Testaferrata Street (wink wink!!).. it's Malta's most famous 'naughty' district LOL ;)

Half the fun is looking for these places and getting lost :)

Hi there,

If you don't have a car and don't want to carry you can order your food online from Tower Supermaket. Alternatively you can also go there to choose your food and then they deliver it to your house. They are in Sliema so not far from Gira.
