Hi All

I am looking into starting a motorcycle franchise in Tripoli but need some more local information. I would appreciate your local knowledge on the below topics or maybe a reference who i can contact to find some info:

1. How difficult is it to get a motorcycle license in Libya?
2. Are there many motorcycles bigger than 800cc on the road at the moment.
3. Is it difficult to register a motorcycle?
4. Are there any restrictions on importing protective clothing (ie. leather products)? Or batteries & oil?
5. Are there any special labelling requirements for clothing, parts or accessories?
6. Are there any current motorcycle dealers in Tripoli and if so who are they?

I will appreciate any feedback on the above.

Many Thanks

LOADS of big bikes in Tripoli. My guess is that most of them are personal imports. You'll see the shabab (youths) wheel spinning and generally showing off every evening in Martyrs' Square and in the Grand Hotel Park.

Plenty of smaller bikes around. Never seen anyone wearing anything like protective gear. Most wear T shirts and sandals.

Licence? Not sure that they exist now. There are many vehicles without number plates and I don't think insurance is compulsory.
