Most bikes in vietnam are crap chinese made things...and for a decent cannondale or trek with mid-range components you will pay the guts of 30 million VND...you can get the same quality bike in cambodia for about 20 million VND.

Hello? Hundreds of bicycles are manufactured in Cho Lon very day with frames assembled in one factory by automated welders, wheels made in another and painting in a thiird. The whole lot is assembled in yet another plant.

Electric bicycles are made here, too, including a very powerful, and waterproof motor.

yeah sorry..i know vietnam makes bikes as well...martins and such

I was sort of trying to say most bikes available in vietnam arent very good quality...and not being very good quality sort of makes me think of china..thus i said "crap from china"...

I cant really say "crap from vietnam" cos vietnamese are quite proud and can sometimes get angry about such comments.

I could be wrong...maybe they make good stuff in that factory your talking about....I couldnt find much on my search in saigon bikr shops and thus had to go to cambodia...but i mean i was looking for a very good bike...something you can abuse and it wont break

In hindsight I think the "jett rampage sport" is pretty good at 14 million...i dont know where they are made...i think if i had known about them 6 months ago i would have got one instead of going to cambodia tobuy that giant.

Mind you..im a bit shallow when it comes to vehicles...a giant does look cooler than  "jett"...brand snobbery...im as guilty as anyone else

No!  I don't mind at all!!!  There are a lot of people on here who talk more than they can deliver.  For most of those who had known me on here, I deliver more than I talk.  It is one of the primary reasons I put my face on here...  and back in southern California.  "May God hold you in the palm of his hands."  That is just the way thing is!

So.... what exactly do you deliver? pizza?

Dude, I am no dough, man!  Maybe Budman is...  But, I will have none of it!

I am telling you, Amigo...  Get the homies to back off.  It is getting way too silly!

I was looking at the same thing and thinking the same, until I went home.

Agree.

Alright gang,

My bike, the blue and white one, not Anatta's hot pink and pom pom one, was delivered to my door yesterday.

I put it together this morning, and everything was there.  I rode around the city a little earlier, and it appeared intact.

So, from the US to here, that is what it will cost.  Just add a little for import tax, depending on the price of your bike.

Happy riding,
Howie

PS:  Anatta, would you like to come check my headlight???  :/

Hey Howie,
Maybe you could give us a summary of everything you did, with the costs? That would be a great help, so readers don't have to go back through all your previous posts. :D

This is my Dahon Speed TR folding bicycle that visited Canada from VietNam. Now back in VN. Done over 4,300 kilometres in 6 years (metered by GPS). It has Speeds: 24 .

No, man.  I am too busy preparing my bike for some Anatta crushings.  :idontagree:  All of him and his pom poms  :dumbom:.

Wild_1

Jaitch,

With the way the airlines are toward oversized luggages, those are the way to go.  The bike that I really really want is the Montague Paratrooper folding bike.

I just wanted to test the water with this rather inexpensive bike.  It will be followed by a Paratrooper, for sure now.

It is kinda hard with all the five-finger discounting and usual bribes :o. Besides, you should not ask Howie for doing advanced math: additions. Too tough!!.

Anatta his teacher says he's doing a lot better in math these days, as long as he doesn't run out of fingers. Still a lot of work to do on telling time.....

Good to hear that he has progress.

I think (one of ) the reasons for wrong answers before was that he used to count when putting his fingers in the pant pockets. After the, eh.. you know.. ahem, operation in Bangkok mentioned we just talked about in the other thread, his answers became much more accurate.

WOW...
is that good or bad?

Wild_1

hELLnoi,

Of course, it's good.  He will soon receive another red flag from his pal, Anatta.  ;)

Jaitch,

Did you pack your Dahon in your suitcase & did you have any problems going through customs in Canada or Vietnam?
I have been thinking of doing the same to my Xootr Swift folding bike. According to their website, it can be packed in a 30" suitcase. They even give step-by-step instructions: http://www.xootr.com/swift-suitcase-pac … tions.html
