Hi guys, i'm a fresh graduate and currently i have found a job in Singapore. This is what i am wondering, my company has submitted a work permit application to MOM for me, and it is approved by now. By right, i should head down to SG and stay there for a week and attend all the procedures (body check-up, thumbprint etc etc). However i am not available at the time and due to CNY is around the corner, as well as insufficient time. I've talk to the people in my company and came up with a suggestion to re-apply for the 2nd time. I was told that MOM was being so strict recently, and i would be blacklisted to reapply since i did not attend the procedures after my work permit was approved earlier on, as it was my clear fault being unable to attend the procedures. I am still new to all these, and i hope anyone out there would clear my doubts. Will i really get blacklisted and never ever to get work in Singapore anymore? :(

The Singapore authorities are very reasonable in many respects. If you (or your company) has a legitimate reason for a delay of your arrival, they will most likely be fine with it. I guess it is not longer than a few weeks, right?
Let your company's HR handle the situation - they probably have the experience, are in Singapore and they applied for the WP in the first place.

I sincerely hope that you are right. As far as I know, "they" normally go by the book (automated) and may assume that they have given the applicant a chance and yet applicant did not turn up so might as well give others a chance (passes like these are hot commodities). In short, lack "human face" lol.
