Per Diem for Mumbai Business trip

surfmania77

Hello,

I am offered by company to open new distribution center in Mumbai (might change to New Deli).

US department set up Per Diem rate of $126.00(5754.4 Rupee, exclude accmodation) a day which I think it could be too much.

As far as I checked, cost of foods there are vary, it is all up to your choice. I am not thinking to have expensive food everyday, but maybe once a week or so, and I need to have some decent food to maintain my health.

I will be there for 3 months and my offer to the company is $2,000.00 (91340.0 Rupee) a month, do you guys think it is reasonable?

BTW, I am thinking to have some left over, well I need to have one. (rougly $1,000.00 x 3 month0

Please advise.

Thanks,

Hey,

I lived in bombay for 6 years and 1000 $ a month will be more than enough for you to have a descent living. Every weekend go to down town outh bombay nd hav lot of fun in pubs and bars. (Suggested place - leopold cafe). Once or twice in a month u can drive down to lonavala- a hill staton near mumbai which wil give you great conforts..

Enjoy India,
Cheers!

Thanks, Sathya

It is great news!!

Haven't heard back from the owner yet, but might be worth going just for experience.

Hey,

I moved to bangalore (which is as expensive as Bombay) a month ago and my per diem is around 2200 per day. I think that's pretty reasonable if you want to have a good enough lifestyle.
