Does anyone know what procedues are required to buy a second hand car? I am wanting to buy a used car in Mauritius.

What does the original owner of the car have to produce/hand over to the new owner?
Road tax payment - when and where?
Insurance - do I insure a car before I take ownership of the car?
Licenses?
What other documents and procedures are required to buy a second hand car?

ok this is what i have found out:
1 seller needs to bring his horsepower card
2 need a copy of both peoples ID
3 need a form to buy the car - need to get it. it is an agreement between both paries.
4 seller needs to get the gauge paper from the NTA
5 go to 6th floor municipality building in port louis with gauge paper, 2 forms and original horespower - pay registration fee for car. after about an hour you will get a stamp.
6 then take all papers and forms to insurance company to get insurance.
7 then go back to NTA and they will transfer the car into your name.

Goodluck!
