Why can't there be one and only religion?

just like Dalai Lama said,

"Religion is like going out to dinner with friends, everyone may order something different, but everyone can still sit at the same table"

i was born as a moslem, and raised as a christian,studied in catholic school, fell in love for the first time with greek orthodox guy,have a very best friend a hindu guy,and now together with my man we learn about buddha...

i just believe,that all beliefs (whatever you call it by names)teach us all good things..men to men and men to god (or whatever it is)

i think the goodwill towards all is the true religion, correct me if i'm wrong...
i wish i can let my beliefs be less of theory and more of love affair..
cuz i just realize, we just have enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another..

Because there are over 6 billion people.  We don't all like the same ice cream.  There's no way we're all going to believe the same thing.

Mankind has had the same debate over several different subjects. Why can't there be one universal religion? Why can't their be one common language? Why can't there be one form of government? Why can't there be one this, that or the other?

The answer to all of those questions is always the same answer, because we human beings are not all the same. We all have our own free will, our own preferences, and the right to believe what we wish to believe in.

These dabates also generate ONE question. Just who would decide which religion, language, government, etc., we should all have? Should ANYONE have that kind of absolute authority over everyone? I don't believe so.

they answered brilliantly to the question.maybe it would happen in a million years to come.its like wishing for world peace so many times in our prayers.and i think it really doesnt matter if we have different religion,because in the end,still,the character and attitude towards other people is what matters most.

Humans required an explaination for the creation of things. It didn't matter if the creator is celestral or from outer space, as long as "very very powerful". Well if the Almighty Creator created everything the Almighty Creator must also be the creator of everything bad and evil.  OR Man needed another for all the bad things. Thus, Mr Devil and Hell joins the story.

When we talk to the Almighty Creator, it is called praying. When the Almighty Creator talks back, it is a trip to the NutHouse!

If that's true then the first religion must be the real one.  Why would any creator let his people make a bunch of false religions and only give them the real one thousands of years later?

God did not abundoned his people, his people abundoned him and pursue what they think is right for them which is not.Man does'nt have any contentment even if God show them the signs before them. God left us books like Quran for us to read, to believed and understand for this are God words given to the last prophet. From Adam, Moses, Ibrahim, Noah, Jonah, Jesus till Prophet Mohammad PBUT are some of God's devoted prophets. those are some of what God left for us..........peace

Does that men you agree that the first religion must be the real one?  Or not?  It kind of sounded like a politician's answer.

Having many religions is absolutely no problem.
Having extremists in those religions who know they are so right, they're willing to kill everyone else, is a massive problem.

It tends to be Muslim, Christian or Jewish nutters that cause most of the grief whilst the vast majority of those groups just wish the idiot end would just stop it or curl up and die in a hole somewhere.

the first religion , wat was it , fire worshiping , stars .. totally doubt that it was the right one .. as for the many different profits , well Haily i think it's more like god taking us "humans "to school
u start with 1st grade teacher who teach u about numbers & end end with college professor who teach advanced math 
each messenger was supposed to add to previous messenger Message " religion "
Islam believes that Mohammed is the last profit , there for it's the time where you get the entire message .
personally i think that all that important is the message
all religion basically say the same thing , love each other , be good to each other , don't lie , kill or steal .
as long as u follow these certain code I don't think it matters wat religion u follow

Hi Benjamin , religion was since creation a very powerful tool to control simple minded ppl .
millions if not billions around the world were slain or enslaved in the name of God ,
the ppl who preach this religion will divide into themselves thriving for power & in time creating different religions

however there is already one religion that connect us all , it's called being humane . that is all that matter really , how u treat others

Still Guardian, I find that people tend to share harmony and be humane towards followers of the same religion. No offense but, when Person A (a Muslim) notices that Person B (another fellow Muslim) and Person C (a Buddhist) are in need of help, eg. deprived of money to return home, Person A usually assists B but not C. This means that not everyone can show sign of humility and empathy towards people of another religion, especially one is against their belief.

people who discriminate cuz of religion will do so cuz of color , race , sex , age, country, job  ,football team , or even cell phone brand .

I know ppl who are more willing to communicate with I phone user more than they do with galaxy s3 , & tend to get into that " samsung Vs apple "

what i'm trying to say , intolerance toward the other is there , whether it was one religion or a thousand , it's a trait that sadly exist in humans , immature ones i mean

I was born muslim but raise us christians and everything I knew in being christian has been explained and proved by Islam......
