Hi dhirendra,

Welcome to Expat.com!

I have moved your topic on the New Delhi forum for better visibility.

Maybe you could introduce yourself?

Best of luck,

Hi Dhirendra,

I hope you don't mind me contacting you - but as someone who lives in India, I wonder if you can give me any accurate information - or maybe signpost me to anyone who can help me.

I want to get married to an India National in a mosque in Delhi, (he is Muslim) then following that, at the High Court there as soon as the documents are produced, to ratify the marriage.

I don't even know which mosque to go to there (have been to Delhi several times)or how far ahead we need to go to book the ceremony with the Mullah.

People I have spoken to in India, don't seem to know, and they just say vaguely go to the High Court and make the enquries etc.

I know how to do anything here in the UK, the inforamtion is all at my fingertips, but i  India it's hatrd to get accrate information.
Do you by any chance know anyone I could ask about this?.

If my partner is unable to get a visa to the UK, then I may end up as an ex-pat living in Delhi.........

Many thanks for reading this, any suggestions appreciated.

Kind regards

Sara Phillips

Hi escaped&inspired,

Marriage in a mosque will not get your bf visa to UK. First the marriage has to be registered in court. and if both of you want to live in London, it would be easier if he get a marriage visa and goes to London and marries you Because if marriage is in India it is assumed that both of you want to live in India.

@escape&inspired
I can talk to the local imams i know of, but wonder if they wil agree to perform the ceremony.
But since the person u are marrying is Indian, he should be having a lot of info on where to go, why not take his help?
And there are a lot of 'qazi' (the person who performs the ceremony) here.... U wont hav a prob finding one once u are here
