as an american travelling into cambodia, how much money can i bring into cambodia through customs that will not be questioned?

i researched that any amount right under 10,000 is okay and you will not have to fill out custom paperwork proving where you got your money.

is around 9,000 to 9,500 u.s. safe instead of 10,000 and over 10,000?

Is it ever safe to take over the legal limit into a country? I would say do not give customs any excuse to part you and your money.
