I have been reading about Ecuador and like everyone, tired of the crime, health insurance etc in the USA. But I have two pure bred cats that would have to come with me. Reading how animals are treated, can one have cats in the apartments? And can someone steer me toward the requirements of transporting my cats? My cats are my kids.
Considering visiting to check it all out; single, 62, how are seniors treated? any communities?  Thanks everyone!

Christine

Hi russianbluemom,

Welcome to Expat.com!

A new topic has been created with your post on the Cuenca forum.

I would suggest you to have a look at other threads here.

Thank you,

I'll leave the questions about pets to those who know the subject better, but I understand seniors get a number of very nice benefits (at least if you are on a pensionado visa, and therefore a resident.

Among the bennies are half fare on transportation. Not a big deal on local buses, since full fare is only 25 cents, but pretty nice on longer trips or flights. I looked up Quito-Galapagos fares, which would be $130 RT. So I'd save $65 on a trip there.

It's also half-price for seniors to get into museums, movies, and sports events.
