Apparently they want to create a similar financial environment here like what was done in Dubaiu some years ago in order to invite capital into the Kingdom.
King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) is near Yanbu, around 200 kms from jeddah...

Thanks for posting..that took courage
Your parents wanted you here so that you would stop your lifestyle back home.
I know a mother who sent her western son to live in a village in India for 6 months because he had a drug problem and was being chased by a drug dealer..this move not only cured him of drug addiction, he also learned to respect another culture and would now like to take his wife and raise his children in India.
Hang in there
thanks for ur concern Iona, hope i dont get HANGED here for doing something wrong
nonz wrote:i m feeling bad for ya...i wish i could do some thing for ya yar but i m already having weird phase of my life and i could arrange your meeting some of indians but i guess they r too old for u
Hey nonz...dont be sad anytime yaa...these phases are just testing periods in ur life. dont feel bad or anything, coz i feel watever is meant to happen will happen, so wats the use of feeling bad or depressed abt it? even if u feel bad, the same thing will happen wen we dont feel anything at all, so y waste ur present time in thinking and making use of brains in that instead of enjoying? just wait and watch as these phases are meant to fade away.
anyways thanks for thinking of introducing people to me...i dont care abt the age, but i am really choosy abt my friends...thats another bad quality i have

check this out ray
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Abdul … nomic_Cityhttp://www.kingabdullahcity.com/en/Home/index.html
its 100km from jeddah...
so we lost one more member to jeddah
Holy S**t - that's an impressive project
I though i was just a few buildings here and there but that's huge
I confirm with Human resource that the project should be in Riyadh - maybe its under a different name
like the website - thanks

I believe there are TWO ongong projects one in Jeddah and one in Riyadh? Not 100% sure though. Will inquire and post.
Dar Al Riyadh represent the Indian IT Giant WIPRO.
They are in King AbdulAziz University for Science & Technology (KAUST) and Aramco and many other places. They are, basically, an IT services company and have been in Saudi for about 7 years.
I actually found the site where the construction is currently in progress.
The KAFD is located north of Riyadh - just northeast of the
M. Ibn Sa'ud Islamic University and east of the An Narjis area
thanks all 4 the great feedback of info - much appreciated

ok that makes sense. I believe the Princess Noura Uni construction is on the other side of the Airport Road on the west which is also another massive project that spans as far as the eye can see. At nights the lighting on the millions of cranes on the site looks like a carnival.
SO ..
the topic is: What to do in Riyadh?
And it seems we have finally found the answer!!
You go out at night and watch the millions of lighted cranes and pretend you're at a carnival!
Gotta love it (only in Riyadh lol).
btw larcharoonie...
Chicago is my home town! What part of the city you from (and you'd better NOT name a suburb cause that's a pet peeve of mine lol).
northside Alliecat
Old Irving Park neighborhood - Irving Park and Kimball
but love the White Sox n hate the Cubs
grew up there but recently moved to the Palatine burbs - sorry
still love the city
Another to do in riyadh - who can find the tallest crane - yeah,

how about Counting Cranes?
for that matter, count anything like the cone hat feller on Sesame Street...
heh heh
whern we were kids back home in Sri Lanka (Ceylon) in the 60s we used to count double deckers passing our home....
Things to do in Riyadh - how about Ghost walking (I don't know if this is the right name saudis call it)?
Have anyone seen this in action - crazy sport
Our version is when we do it in the snow behind a car called skitching but we don't go that fast in the car
Hi Peeps
I have found a weekend hobby. Visit two Malls on Thursday and list the different things. LOL
As for bikes, occasionally there is one for sale on our board in the Salwa compound.
If anyone wants a visit let me know and I'll see if we can sort something out.
Hey, Raylarch I saw a very tall crane this morning on the airport road, it was being used to put up other cranes. At the last count there were 134.
Have I been here too long?

I am also quietly getting addcted to counting the number of floors on the many new glass buildings that are popping up like mushrooms on either side of King Fahd Road, Olaya Street, Al Kharj Highway and Takhasusi Road
This morning I counted 12 on one of the new glass houses on King Fahd. Its easy for me to count cos I have the privilege of being driven to work... heh heh
i used to count floors too...and thought i was stupid, didnt know that was a time pass here...he he he
now my latest enjoyment is driving the car as fast as i can and see others tryin to beat me. I slow down after about 200 meters and enjoy their reckless driving
now if you really r bored - you can start counting grains of sand - good luck
shahab - you ride motorcycles?
what do you do as far as sport activity?
i used to ride them back in my home town during my early college days...never did it here. i represented my university in football and volleyball and was even selected for my state football team. during my school days, won some medals on country level for atheletics...but mainly was into football. but now scared to play as people might mistake me to be the ball and kick me
was really freak out before...always wanted to try each and everything...so was into bike and car racing too
reason i ask is to see if you play squash or racquetball - i play both
sorry...played tennis for 2 months...then had to quit due to my engineering...i think not good at it...but ya, was planning to start squash but u might not want to play with a beginner
we can always pick up games along the way - thats the only cardio exercise I do so I'm bringing both of my racquets with me
I leave tomorrow for Dubai and should be in Riyadh by Thursday of next week
ok, great...will definitely wud like to learn that game and main reason for it is my fitness! i will be back to riyadh in the last week of april....
will keep in touch and take from there - just let me know where the nice places are to play these games
I will figure something out once I get settled down over there.
i just now figured out that there r 9 pages for the forum on riyadh and only top 5-6 are being updated daily...i wonder wat are all those topics.....

enjoy the sand, ray and dont miss out on the duty free stuff while you are at it... see you soon here, we had little drops of rain last night.....
hey ray, listen to the mind, not body at the moment. coz once here, ur body is surely gonna get its due
you are right on target there shahab - did all of my sight seeing today and going to rest tomorrow. Just waiting for my medical exam results before leaving Dubai. I will also try to enjoy alcohol as much as possible - not that i'am an alcoholic.
