That was a big question I had also. But having been to Vietnam in 1970-1973, I knew it wouldn't be to hard to find a good stereo. What about housing. Prices etc. I will have approximately 4,000 USD to live on every month, I would imagine I could get a fairly decent place. I hope to move to Vietnam within 4-6 months. I would also need some one to keep my house and cook for me. Are there places where Americans live? How easy is it to get clothes that I can wear? Shoes where very hard to get in my size when last there. 13 is a big big foot. But I am 6'2". Pants might be a little hard, or will it be?

Depends on your needs cost of living may vary place to place. I don't know what kind of facility you need in your house/apartment/villa. For a single life I think $600-1000 enough :D If you want more luxury, surely you can spend lavishly!
Yes, there has places where Americans living. But what is the use of that kind of place if they are unwilling to mingle? :D
Better you should live near Vietnamese, so they will help and love more than you think! That's from my life :D

Your clothes size will definitely be a problem. However, you can always get your clothes tailored.
You have sufficient funds to live well. How well will depend on the extras.
