Hi ,
Is the car registered in UK at the moment ie .UK plates?
I have found a company in UK that will give you 365 days of European cover, if you need it , but you must have a UK address.

AXA will insure right hand drive cars in France. Their English speaking agency is Montagnon Street Lefeuvre BP 62033 22102 Dinan Cedex Google them for phone numbers.

IMPORTANT: you must re-register your UK car (or nay other nationality) in France within two months of arrival if you are intending to stay. You will need to visit the Prefecture to do this, and you will need a number of documents. For a good guide to what is involved, go here: www.frenchentree.com/driving-in-france/

Big point is headlights if you have Xenon lights. They must be replaced as they cannot be adjusted: for my Citroen C5 the UK list price is £1500 per light, plus fitting.
